PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE ANNUAL
CALIFORNIA BEACH CLEANUP DAY!
NORTH RINCON (BATES) BEACH,

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2014, 9:00 AM TO NOON

Sponsored by the California Coastal Commission and the Friends of Bates Beach
Where to Meet...

1. We will meet at the pavilion area above the beach across from the parking lot and restrooms.

2. If you cannot get there at 9 AM, you may come as late as 11 AM to be added to the official list of volunteers.

3. The County provides us with a limited number of rubber gloves and trash bags. So if you arrive late, you may want to plan on bringing the following:

- A pair of gloves (plastic or garden gloves)

- A pencil or pen (the Coastal Commission wants you to log what you collect on a form.)

- Optional but nice to have: A "trash grabber" or fish tank grabber (with net on the end) so you don't have to bend over to pick things up as often.

RSVP in Advance...

While we appreciate those of you who just show up at the last minute, if we have a head count ahead of time we can better prepare with enough rubber gloves, bags, and pens.

Directions to Bates Beach...

1. Take the Ventura (101) Freeway to 10 miles south of Santa Barbara.

2. Exit at Bates Road and follow the signs to the beach.

3. There are THREE forks in the road here: The one to the left takes you to the beach on the Ventura side known as South Rincon Beach (this is NOT us!) The one in the middle leads to a gated community of homes for residents only. The one on the RIGHT takes you up a ramp to a parking lot on the Santa Barbara side, and this is Bates (North Rincon) Beach.

4. Park near the pavilon/picnic area and rest rooms. We will be at the pavilion.
